Matt was first elected to Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council in 2019, representing Medway Ward. In July 2021 he was elected as Leader of the Council and the Conservative Group, roles he holds at the moment.
He was born and brought up in Maidstone and, bar a few years at University in Sussex, has lived in Kent all of his life.
Matt said "Having lived in Kent all of my life, I am proud to call the wonderful village of East Peckham my home. For a number of years I have been active in the local community supporting local councillors and campaigners. As well as being Leader of Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council I am also a school governor, director of a management company and an active football referee.
"My priorities for the beautiful villages of East Peckham, West Peckham, Mereworth and Wateringbury is to keep them as the wonderful places to live they currently are. This is achieved through supporting local businesses and securing local jobs, as well as making sure that any development is sensitive to our beautiful landscape and constrained infrastructure. I hope to use the skills and experiences I have built up over the past 4 years to be an effective Councillor for our villages."
