The future of St George's Court is something that matters deeply to us all. We must make sure that any redevelopment includes what the village would like to see, and reflects the wishes and needs of Wrotham first and foremost.
Following the public meeting held with Clarion on Tuesday 28 February 2023, we have organised a short online survey. Please complete this so we can share your views. As was mentioned at the meeting, we have spent 8 years working with Clarion Housing Group to get them to bring forward appropriate proposals and have spoken with many people, but would be interested to know how your views have changed
St George's Court was previously owned by Edna Goring. Her descendents have kindly provided us with the below statement including their wish:
“After consultation with and speaking on behalf of our family we believe that Granny would have had no concerns with the terms of her covenant being varied in line with the evolving needs of the community. She was a pragmatic woman and only wanted what Wrotham wanted.
In light of which we think it important that the views of every resident of the village should be canvassed and their social housing needs prioritised concomitantly. Granny gave this land to the village to be held for the housing needs of its elderly but she certainly didn’t foresee the drastic changes in society wrought by technology, austerity and house prices coming in at eight times earnings.” Theresa Goring
We hope to get responses from as many villagers as possible, so will keep this survey open for the next couple of months. By completing this we can also share with you an update of the results when they are received.
Best wishes
