Tonbridge & Malling Councillors Matthew Balfour and Chris Smith have taken up key positions in Kent Leader Paul Carter's new County Hall administration.
As Deputy Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment, Malling East member Matthew Balfour will draw upon his wealth of Borough Council Cabinet experience as he tackles the county's big transport and infrastructure priorities. With business growth and jobs the planning priority, Matthew's role with Cabinet Member David Brazier will be vital to the future economic prospects of the county.
Also in the new County Hall line-up, Tonbridge member Chris Smith becomes Deputy Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health. Previously chairing the service Cabinet Committee with distinction, Chris will working with Cabinet Member Graham Gibbens to deliver the Council's biggest service transformation programme in social care while taking on new KCC responsibilities for Public Health.
